Come, Let us Adore Him

The Lord has been calling me to a quiet place of rest. My soul has been striving for simplicity and I can not seem to get there. There are many distractions that sway me in daily life, but I am determined to keep pursuing this peace.

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.” St. Augustine

The simple joys that I used to enjoy have seemed to get away from me over the years. Things like baking, cooking, reading, and being outdoors. Being more active and focused. Unplugging from electronics and getting back to being present to others. Talking to someone rather than texting, reading a book rather than watching a movie, having dinner at the table rather than in front of the television.

To continue to learn something new, never stop the awe and wonder of discovery. I desire this in the midst of grocery shopping, never ending laundry, work, piled up mail and paperwork, overstuffed closets, paying bills, balancing checkbooks, all of which are important, but seem to get me stuck in their mundane nature.

This last week of Christmas, I have been drawn to the Three Kings and their journey to find the Messiah. There is so much in the scripture passage, but this particular part came to my attention: They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with his mother Mary. They prostrated themselves and did Him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Mt 2:10-11

Coming into the new year and a new decade, I am reminded of the importance of finding joy in being with the Lord. Seeking Him in everything I do, never ceasing to Adore Him and presenting my gifts to Him. Tackling the mundane things of life while never losing sight of the star, the brightness which will lead me on the way. Many Blessings to you in this New Year of 2020.
