The Call

I am in the throws of winter, it is cold, dark and gray. I am preparing for an arctic blast that is coming my way this weekend. A cold snap of air where the temperature plummets and comes in a swift way. It is felt deeply in the body, even before it arrives.

My thoughts go to homemade soup, warm cookies out of the oven, freshly baked bread, a fluffy blanket, a roaring fire, a comforting cup of tea and an afternoon nap. However, I feel a call deep within for something new, some different; it is an invitation.

Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Hebrews 3:15

It is a call from the Lord; a call to go deeper within myself and explore the areas which have turned cold and have formed a barrier against the Lord. To look deeply within my heart and to let Him in. To offer those areas to Him, the hidden recesses that I am not aware of, to allow Him to cast His light into them.

To spend time with Him; in silence with my journal handy, to listen to His gentle nudges as He leads me to where He wishes me to go. It is a call from the Lord to bring my heart to His heart, His will not mine, and I pray that this time with the Lord is protected and set aside for Him, the One whom calls me.

I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
