Come To Me

Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

This morning, I find myself in my beloved Colorado, and even though I was born in California, I feel most at home here.

I was in California the first two years of my life, and spent my childhood, teenage, young and middle adult years in Colorado. At age 37, I found myself in the great state of Minnesota, where the adventure continues.

I find it familiar here in Colorado, and there seems to be memories everywhere, which make sense as my formative years were spent here.

Before the trip, I felt weighed down, burdened and anxious, and desired to postpone the trip to a future date. However, I now feel these thoughts were not from God, as now that I am here, I feel a peace and calm take over.

Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while. Mark 6:31

So far, the trip has been a mix of planned and spontaneous visits and activities, and the conversation has been enjoyable. Its fun when you just let things naturally flow and see where it leads. There are always some unexpected surprises along the way.

Life is meant to be lived and experienced with an awe and wonder; learning, seeing and feeling what is around in the present moment. I find myself wanting to disconnect from social media and my cell phone, not even taking pictures, to give my full attention to this moment in time. Where the time spent with family and friends is a precious gift and I am grateful to be here.
