I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me, you can do nothing. John 15:5.
The Lord directed me to this beautiful scripture during my evening prayer time. I was in the quiet and peaceful chapel at Church when part of this verse was revealed to me.
When this happens, I write down what I receive in my journal and seek out the rest at a later time. It allows me to spend time with the Lord in that moment open to what He is giving me and where He is leading me.
The Lord speaks to my heart and shows me the way to find peace. To seek Him, day and night, and remain with Him.
At a later time, I look up the words He gave me and it led me to the scripture verses of John 15. It is a lengthy chapter and speaks of an image of the Father and Son as a vinedresser and vine and goes on to describe the branches on the vine. It tells of the care and love of God.
I have visited several vineyards over the summer, and have experienced the good fruit that comes from them. It is a lengthy process that demonstrates hard work, patience, persistence and surrender.
It is much like the spiritual life; it takes time, pruning, and continual growth. Lord, I pray for the grace of abiding in you and bearing good fruit through the gifts You have given me, because without You, I can do nothing. Amen.
