Set the captives free

The second week of Advent invites me to look deep within myself, to acknowledge my sins, to humbly repent and return back to the Lord.

John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” It was of him that the prophet Isaiah had spoken when he said: A voice of one crying out in the desert,
Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. Matthew 3:1

With the grace and help of the Lord, I can set the captives free that bind me. This is the narrow way that leads to peace. It is a peace that God alone gives, is not of this world but found in His Kingdom.

His Kingdom is at hand, and the Lord calls me to it. He speaks to my heart and takes me by the hand. The Lord frees me, The Lord leads me, The Lord heals me, The Lord protects me.

Dear Lord, I pray for the grace of a good confession in the sacrament of Reconciliation, help me, my God and my Lord, to return to You. Amen.

Confession is the soul’s bath. Even a clean and unoccupied room gathers dust. Return after a week and you will see that it needs dusting again. St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina
