I have now completed week 9 of Magnify 90 and this week’s virtue is zeal. ‘Zeal is a strong, action-oriented desire to advance in the spiritual life and move in the direction of righteousness. Zeal puts love into action and strengthens the resolution to progress in virtue and sanctity’. (good confession.com). Zeal is to be an enthusiastic follower of Jesus.
I am called to live out zeal in my state in life, in the vocation that God calls me to. Namely, first as His daughter, second as a wife to my husband, and third as a mother to my children. To serve the household that Gods calls me to while using the gifts He gives me.
I spend time with the Lord, so I can hear His voice and discern His will for my life. He talks to me, and I talk to Him. It is a beautiful exchange, much like talking to a dear friend who knows me so well.
I have always liked this quote from St. Catherine of Sienna, “Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.” From my reading this week, I learned that it was from a letter she wrote to her spiritual son Stefano, encouraging him to be courageous and live a bolder life.
Lord, I desire to follow You, with zeal and courage, to do Your will. Help me to love more and be filled with joy that overflows to others. I pray that the flame of Your love is felt on the earth. Amen.
The Lord loves me with an all consuming love and I pray for the grace to love Him and my neighbors with this love, a love that pushes me to live my life with zeal, courage, and joy.
“I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!” Luke 12:49
