This past weekend was the Presentation of the Lord or Candlemas, which commemorates the purification of Mary, and the presentation of Jesus, her firstborn son in the temple. It takes place forty days after Christmas.
I received a candle as I entered the Church, and when my candle was lit and burning, the wax started to melt and drip. It reminded me of teardrops.
I felt God say to me, “My daughter, I am with you. Every tear you cry, I hold close to my heart.”
The flame on the candle led my thoughts to the Holy Spirit, which enkindles within a burning and pure love that strengthens me.
The Holy Scriptures pointed me to obedience to God, in all circumstances, because He is good and worthy of all my love and honor.
The Blessed Mother is a faithful and loving witness for me. She takes me by the hand and leads me in a sweet and kind way to her son Jesus. He is the light of the world, and darkness has not overcome Him.
I feel a great light shine and consume me, and a joy radiates from within. It is the Lord, close to my heart, and I am at peace.
Thank you, Lord, for your care of me, especially for the unexpected blessing I received this week, I am most grateful. Amen.
All the darkness in the world can’t extinguish the light from a single candle. St. Francis of Assisi.
