All Saints Day

The saints are like our older brothers and sisters who’ve finished the race and are now cheering us on and praying that we too, will reach the finish line and enter Heaven. St. Teresa of Calcutta

I have never really thought about the saints until I was preparing to fully enter the Catholic faith through RCIA over 20 years ago.

Through the classes I took, I learned what a saint was and eventually I got to choose a personal saint for my upcoming confirmation who would walk with me and pray for me on the journey of faith.

Because I am a wife and a mother, I chose St. Monica. She is a faithful example of perseverance in prayer and I am grateful to God for the gift of the saints.

Nothing is far from God. St. Monica

The first time I was aware of the saints was on the day of my confirmation when the litany of saints was sung. I literally felt Heaven open up with the saints present in that moment. It was a beautiful grace that God bestowed on me.

Over the years, more saints have entered into my life. They are my faithful companions helping me along the path to the Lord.

Some of them are St. Faustina, St. Therese, St. Padre Pio, St. Kateri, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Martha, St. Joseph, and the Blessed Mother.

Another blessing is my birthday is on the eve of All Saints Day. I am truly grateful for all the wonderful family and friends who reached out to me with birthday wishes, it was such a joy and I appreciated all the messages I received. Thank you to my mom and sister for making the journey to spend a long weekend with me and my family. We made new special memories and I am so thankful to them and my immediate family for making me feel so much love.

All you Holy Men and Women, pray for us. Amen.
