The words echo in my mind, “Here’s my heart, Lord,” lyrics from a song. I listen to this song and make the words my prayer to the Lord.
I offer Him my heart, open and with surrender. I offer Him my heart, with trust and hope. I offer Him my heart, with abandonment and joy.
The walls come down, the door is open, and the Lord is with me. I feel a radiance in my being and a pure love in my soul. I am His beloved daughter and He calls me close.
I imagine St. John, the beloved disciple, with his head resting on Jesus’s chest, close to His most precious heart at the last supper. What a lovely image to ponder.
Thank you, my God and my Lord, for Your most sacred heart that bled for me; a heart that was pierced with the thorns of my sin, a heart that poured out mercy and forgiveness. Thank you, my Lord and my God, for Your great love. Here’s my heart, Lord and I pray for the grace to stay close to your most sacred heart. St. John, pray for us. Amen.
