Love is the cross, and the cross is love. St. Therese of Lisieux
I walk with Jesus, we are on a dry, dusty road that stretches for miles. I can not see anything in the distance.
I walk next to Jesus, with the same pace; slow and steady, with the same breath; deep and clear, with the same heartbeat; strong and calm.
In the silence we walk. I notice that we are not alone, several saints have joined the walk and angels encircle us.
Up ahead, I see two crosses, one for the Lord and one for myself. My cross is much smaller than the Lord’s cross.
I walk with Jesus towards the crosses. Jesus never leaves my side. He does not speak. I do not speak. In the silence, we walk to the Cross.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24
