“I am all you need”, five words I heard the Lord speak to me. This happened on the feast day of St. John the Baptist last week. The words kept echoing in my mind while I was sitting in Church. My gaze was fixed on the tabernacle, and I was trying to make sense of these words. Were they lyrics to a song, words from a scripture verse or simply five words the Lord chose to speak to me that morning? After awhile I just accepted them as a gift and quit searching for their meaning.
The feast day of St. John the Baptist means a lot to me, as ten years ago I was in Medjugorje for the 30th anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparitions, which coincides with this feast day. The feast day was when the apparitions began, and continue now into the 40th year. The apparitions are not approved by the Church and are under investigation; nevertheless, I found this tiny village halfway across the world to be a peaceful, prayerful place.
I felt this same peace last week as I sat in Church. It seemed like all my cares slipped away and I was being shown the way. That the Lord is all I need, and not to worry or be anxious. The way is simplicity and humility, and I felt drawn to the scripture passage where John the Baptist leapt in his mother’s womb when Mary, pregnant with Jesus, went in haste to see Elizabeth.
These two, holy women, both received great miracles from God, and they came face to face with each other in great joy, and both exclaimed out loud blessings and praises of the wonders God has done. A moment in time that speaks so many truths about the beauty of life and following God in great trust. That miracles are all around us, and to treasure all the gifts from the Lord with great joy.
A sweet smell of roses overcame me twice while I was at Church this particular day. It was a beautiful experience and it turned my gaze upwards to Heaven. I was reminded what a special day it was, and to keep close to God, because He is I am, and I am is all I need.
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
