Today is the Feast Day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and it is a glorious, sunny day. The sun was bright as I was driving this morning, and it had me reflect on the radiant, brilliant, pure light of Our Lady. It was blinding and I couldn’t help thinking of her great love of God and us with that same intensity of a Mother’s heart.
I prepared for this day by praying a novena to guide my past nine days of prayer, which kept me more focused and directed in my thoughts and prayers to the Lord. This great day that we celebrate the birth of the Mother of God.
When the most Holy Virgin was born, the whole world was made radiant; blessed is the branch and blessed the stem in which bore such holy fruit. (excerpt from the Liturgy of the Hours). “In Mary, daughter of the house of David, the stump of Jesse buds forth the beginning of salvation, for she who is the stem bears for all peoples its fruit that gives everlasting life, Christ the Lord.” (excerpt from the September 2021 edition of the Magnificat).
The Blessed Mary has been present to me in my life. She has walked with me in her quiet, loving manner and has been a great help leading me to Jesus. She speaks quietly to my heart; in a kind and gentle way, and shows me the way that is paved in humility and simplicity. She is there in my joys and sorrows, and I am grateful to God for this great gift.
I give all praise, honor and love to God on this day of the radiant dawn, and I offer my day to Him, in all I do and in all I say, for His Glory. Amen
