My Blessing

This morning, I sit here reflecting on my youngest daughter. Today is her 18th birthday and she is a great blessing to me. She entered the world on a cold day, and today will celebrate her special day in bitter cold temps, but she radiates a joy that warms all those around her.

She was my longest labor at 12 hours, and almost had me experience my first C-section. Thankfully, that was not the case. Angie had changed position, but the doctor was able to get her back in place for a smooth delivery. She entered the world by doing a flip and we were overjoyed at meeting her for the first time.

The thing that stands out to me is she was a happy child and always filled with joy. She always had a big smile on her face and was genuinely happy. The youngest of four, she was quick to keep up with her sister and brothers.

It has been a joy watching her over the years. I look at her today and she is a beautiful young lady. My little girl has transformed into a beautiful woman, ready to take on the world.

She has many gifts that God has given her. She is a sensitive and creative soul and a wonderful artist. She is especially talented with drawing and can see things at a deep level.

Enjoy the last half of your senior year, where every day brings an opportunity to leave things a little better and brighter by the joy and laughter you carry with you. Don’t be afraid to feel things deeply, it is a gift from God. I love you, my daughter, Happy Birthday! Love, Mom

May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given you. May you be content knowing that you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and everyone of you. St. Teresa of Avila
