His Love Covers You

We had our first measurable snow fall, and I experienced it while I was away at a friend’s cabin. The snowfall was a just a trace when we arrived, as if the snow was sprinkled carefully over the ground. The cabin is cozy and nestled by a lake surrounded by spruce, fir, oak and maple trees.

I immediately entered into the peace and quiet of my beautiful surroundings and was ready to embrace the company of good friends.

We played cards, took a walk, enjoyed meals together and had long and meaningful talks. It was just what a girls weekend should be with some silliness and laughter mixed in.

It continued to snow and the ground and even a few places on the lake was covered by a little snow. I was fortunate enough to see a group of loons in the water diving for fish. It all seemed so magical.

The snow reminds me of God’s love. Where His love covers and protects me. Like a beautiful warm blanket, His love brings me a security and comfort that I am grateful for.

This year, I will embrace the upcoming winter season and not wish it away. I will look for the beauty in the snow when the sun hits it just right, in the crisp breeze when it touches my face and in the dark, gray sky when the moon glows in amber light. I will be reminded of God as He covers all in His love.

In much gratefulness I pray, thank you Lord, for the gift of friendship and Your unending love. All praise, honor and glory to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
