This past weekend was the Feast Day of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Jesus led the Apostles Peter, James and John up a high mountain. Then a miraculous event happens, Jesus is transfigured before them.
And he was transfigured before them;
his face shone like the sun
and his clothes became white as light. Matthew 17:1
The Apostles are eye witnesses to the Glory of God on the Holy Mountain. Incredible events happen, Moses and Elijah are there speaking with the Lord.
I feel an invitation from the Lord, to follow Him up the mountain. The journey is steep, and on the way I have found myself slipping on the rocky path. I have looked down and have lost sight of the Lord.
The Apostles witnessed a bright cloud in the sky and were covered in its shadow. They fell to the ground when they heard the voice of God, the Father speak.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” Matthew 17:5
But instead of feeling joy, The Apostles felt fear. I can relate, lately fear has crept back into my life. So much so that I have felt paralyzed like the Apostles, unable to move and face down on the ground. The beauty of the Transfiguration is that Jesus calls me to rise and not be afraid. The light of Christ covers me and I listen to Him.
He tells me, My daughter, fix your mind on things above; on Me and the saints and the angels. Keep praying for others. You do have a purpose, my daughter; persistence and patience will get you through. I love you.
Thank you Lord, for always being with me, all honor and glory to You, my God and my Lord.
