When I look at the world with awe and wonder, I begin to see things anew. The world is full of beauty, and in the midst of that beauty, there is great love to be found. This is the place where I am drawn.
I have found this gazing into my husband’s eyes, a love that could be felt without a word uttered. I have found this gazing upon my children, I especially remember when they were babies and listening to their sweet breath as they slept peacefully.
I have found this in the unconditional love of a father, a mother, and a sister. In grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. My extended family and friends, where we are connected even when our paths do not cross often as the years go by. Where we keep each other in our thoughts and in our hearts.
I have found this while gazing upon the glory of God in nature; an autumn maple tree, a crisp, red apple, a rocky path on a mountain, a winding river, a starry night, and an early morning sunrise.
There is a sense of wonder in a single blade of grass or a rolling meadow; a single drop of water, or an endless sea; a grain of sand, or a vast desert.
I have found this in beautiful art, soulful music, a classic novel, a heartfelt poem, or a play at the theater. A place where God is reflected through it.
I have found this beauty all around, God’s love is breathed out upon the earth. Made in His image, I have found God’s love, it is within me.
I breathe in His love and it fills me. His perfect love casts out fear and hope enters, a hope that increases my faith in Him. As I look around I understand that I am drawn by love. The love of God.
The human heart is always drawn by love. St. Catherine of Siena
